The Star Ledger: Gov. Christie and Mary Pat Raise $16 Million in Sandy Relief

First Lady Mary Pat Christie was sitting in the generator-powered governor’s mansion at Drumthwacket when her cell phone rang.
"Listen, we have to do this, you’re going to be in charge," her husband told her days after the massive storm slammed into the coast. "Make some phone calls and get this done."
That was all she needed to hear.
Now, two weeks after that modest beginning, the Christies have leveraged their influence and network of connections to raise $16.5 million from more than 7,000 donations for the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
