Bruce Springsteen favorites blasted from the EvenTide Grill patio speakers in Sea Bright as patrons danced and celebrated National Dine Out Day with television personality Mehmet Oz from Fox’s “The Dr. Oz Show” on Wednesday night.
National Dine Out Day is an annual event where restaurants are invited to donate a part of the day’s profits to the year’s selected charity. This year’s funds will go toward the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by first lady Mary Pat Christie.
EvenTide Grille participated this year and Gov. Chris Christie asked Oz to come down to the Jersey Shore and show support at the restaurant, Oz said.
“Just by being here you realize what an emotional event this was,” said Oz, a Cliffside Park resident. “People here are afraid, but I want to show them that there is a future here and you can’t give up.”
He said he was affected by the storm himself and lost power in his home for many days.
Lindsay Ruane, a managing partner of EvenTide Grille, said the riverside restaurant sustained severe water damage from the storm.
